Authoring information

This one was also authored by Niels Pflaeging and Gebhard Borck, in February 2008.

It is worth noting that it was Robin Fraser, of the Beyond Budgeting Round Table, who first brought up John Kotter´s 8-phase transformation process for use in Beyond Budgeting process. That was probably back in 2003 or 2004. He also tested this model, in an Italian change initiative.
Then, in 2006, when Gebhard Borck and I started working together on transformation projects, Gebhard came up with the idea that it simply wasn´t enough to look at organizational change, but that we also needed to consider the individual´s dimension, within our work, in a more systematic way. Gebhard also suggested us to use William Bridge´s model.
When we started looking at the two development strings, and fitting in different techniques and change methodologies, it became apparent to us that both processes, Kotter´s and Bridge´s, would be intertwined in a complex way - just like a helix.

I believe that no management thinker or change guru so far brought these two dimensions of organizational change together in quite a similar way. And that the double helix framework, combined with the BetaCodex, offers some very powerful insights in what is needed to change organizations big time, worl-dwide.
